The question of the possibility of selling abroad in the future is a question of searching and discovering new reserves, the Minister of Energy believes. Kazakhstan plans to stop the export of commercial gas in the next two years, Kazakh Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said in an interview with Russia 24 TV channel. The head of the department suggested that gas exports would have to be stopped in the next two years, because, despite the sufficient amount of commercial gas, essential consumption is growing. Akchulakov noted that Kazakhstan plans to look for new hydrocarbon reserves and gas fields. If, during the development of unexplored territories, gas reserves are discovered that are sufficient for domestic consumption, the surplus will be sold. According to the minister, out of 15 pools in Kazakhstan, only five are under development.
“Therefore, I think the question of the possibility of exporting in the future is a question of searching and discovering gas reserves,” Akchulakov said.
